The fundamental principles

The fundamental principles by which wiki.beemed.com operates are almost identical to those of Wikipedia, and are listed below;
1. Wiki.beemed.com is an encyclopedia
Wiki.beemed.com combines many features of general and specialized encyclopedias, almanacs, and gazetteers. Wikipedia is not a soapbox, an advertising platform, a vanity press, an experiment in anarchy or democracy, an indiscriminate collection of information, or a web directory. It is not a dictionary, a newspaper, or a collection of source documents.
2. Wiki.beemed.com is written from a neutral point of view
We strive for articles in an impartial tone that document and explain major points of view, giving due weight with respect to their prominence. We avoid advocacy, and we characterize information and issues rather than debate them. In some areas there may be just one well-recognized point of view; in others, we describe multiple points of view, presenting each accurately and in context rather than as "the truth" or "the best view". All articles must strive for verifiable accuracy, citing reliable, authoritative sources, especially when the topic is controversial or is on living persons. Editors' personal experiences, interpretations, or opinions do not belong.
3. Wiki.beemed.com is free content that anyone can use, edit, and distribute
Since all editors freely license their work to the public, no editor owns an article and any contributions can and will be mercilessly edited and redistributed. Respect copyright laws, and never plagiarize from any sources. Borrowing non-free media is sometimes allowed as fair use, but strive to find free alternatives first.
4. Wiki.beemed.com's editors should treat each other with respect and civility
Respect your fellow user of Wiki.beemed.com, even when you disagree. Apply wiki.beemed.com etiquette, and do not engage in personal attacks. Seek consensus, avoid edit wars, and never disrupt wiki.beemed.com to illustrate a point. Act in good faith, and assume good faith on the part of others. Be open and welcoming to newcomers. Should conflicts arise, discuss them calmly on the appropriate talk pages, follow dispute resolution procedures, and consider that there are many other articles on Wiki.beemed.com to improve and discuss.
5. Wiki.beemed.com has no firm rules
Wiki.beemed.com has policies and guidelines, but they are not carved in stone; their content and interpretation can evolve over time. Like for Wikipedia, the principles and spirit matter more than literal wording, and sometimes improvements require making exceptions. Be bold but not reckless in updating articles. And do not agonize over making mistakes: (almost) every past version of a page is saved, so mistakes can be easily corrected.

General Information

As for the fundamental principles, wiki.beemed.com also apply the same guidelines as Wikipedia. They have been developed by the Wikipedia community and describe best practices, clarify principles, resolve conflicts, and otherwise aims to further the goal of creating a free and reliable medical encyclopedia. There is no need to read the policy or guideline to start editing, but for your reference they can be found here. In any case, the five pillars listed above are a popular summary of the most pertinent principles.
What is contributed is more important than the expertise or qualifications of the contributor. What will remain depends upon whether the content is free of copyright restrictions and contentious material about living people, and whether it fits within wiki.beemed.com's General terms and conditions, including being verifiable against a published reliable source, thereby excluding editors' opinions and beliefs and unreviewed research. Contributions cannot damage wiki.beemed.com because the software allows easy reversal of mistakes and many experienced editors are watching to help ensure that edits are cumulative improvements. Begin by simply clicking the Edit link at the top of any editable page!

Why Wiki.beemed.com?

At some point you may ask yourself: "Why edit and use wiki.beemed.com when there are already well-developed alternative sources?". Here are some good reasons.

  • Wiki.beemed.com is a live collaboration which is continually created and updated as new discoveries are made.
  • Wiki.beemed.com is open content, released under Creative Commons license, as opposed to traditional books or articles, whose copyright owners can decide how others can use or share their contents. This encourages knowledge sharing and cross-learning for the benefit of the entire medical community, patients and thus society as a whole.
  • Wiki.beemed.com leverages the latest blockchain technology to ensure the traceability of the identity of the author and the date of each contribution or citations used on the platform.
  • Wiki.beemed.com is associated to www.beemed.com that when relevant will provide illustrations, videos and multiple-choice questions for better learning.

Wiki.beemed.com should thus become more comprehensive than any other encyclopedia. Wiki.beemed.com is a work-in-progress, with articles in various stages of completion. As articles develop, they tend to become more comprehensive and balanced. Quality also improves over time as misinformation and other errors are removed or repaired. However, because anyone can click "edit" at any time and add content, any article may contain undetected misinformation, errors, or vandalism. Awareness of this helps the reader to obtain valid information and avoid recently added misinformation.
